(Canceled) Soil Health Series: Understanding Growth Media & the Chemistry of Soil
Marin Headlands Nursery

In this next class in the soil series, join the very knowledgeable Stephen Andrews (UC Berkeley Professor, specializing in soils) for a hands-on class to discover how the chemical reactions of soil clean our air, clean our water, and make nutrients available to plants. You'll understand chemistry like never before!

You've undoubtedly heard of the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act. But what about the Clean Soils Act...? Why not? Soil is the largest chemical reactor on the planet. Happening beneath our feet are fascinating chemical reactions responsible for immobilizing, filtering, purifying, detoxifying, and recycling. This class will cover: basic nutrient requirements for native plants, how to diagnose nutrient deficiencies and abiotic disorders, how to perform nutrient analysis and to read lab results, and how to calculate fertilizer rates.
