South Asian Community Volunteer Day (Eid Special)
Lands End Visitor Center (to start)

Celebrate South Asian cultures, traditions and festivals in the company of nature at these special, family-friendly volunteer programs organized and hosted by park staff from within the community. Build a new connection with your local national park, enjoy an afternoon of habitat restoration, a special Bollywood dance workout choreographed by Doonya SF instructor Shruti Marathe Devdhar, and treat yourselves to some delicious traditional and authentic snacks from our local Indian Eatery, Kasa!

This will be a series of programs and a unique opportunity to learn about our diverse communities within the Bay Area, get hands-on learning experience from trained staff, and to hear some fascinating natural and cultural history of the park. You don’t need any prior experience to help with habitat restoration. Just bring your enthusiasm, and we'll provide the rest.

For our program on June 16th we will be celebrating Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan (a month of fasting) and is celebrated by Muslims across the world. According to Islamic tradition, fasting expresses many of the basic values such as patience and empathy, and is a time for personal reflection. Please join us for an afternoon of giving back and restoring our nature that allows us spaces for reflection and healing.
