Follow in the footsteps of explorers, soldiers, and citizen activists as we explore Sweeney Ridge in Pacifica with Ranger George Durgerian. We’ll visit the “Discovery Site” where Captain Portola was the first European to see the spectacular San Francisco Bay in 1776, as well as the Cold War-era Nike Missile Site that once stood guard on the ridgetop. Along the way, we’ll also learn about some of the plants native to the area and local efforts to protect this beautiful site.
