One Tam Event: Wildlife Picture Index Volunteer Field Assistant Training
Marin Headlands Building 1050

Be a part of the Marin Wildlife Picture Index Project, a One Tam community science initiative aimed at studying wildlife on public lands around Mt. Tamalpais!  As part of the project, trained volunteers assist agency staff as they hike to some of the most remote locations in Marin to service the cameras and collect memory cards. Attend this required training session  to  learn about the project and the basics of maintaining cameras. This work is suitable for ages 18 and up, and requires volunteers to commit to three full field days per year, generally in the first two weeks of September, December, March, and June. To access the cameras, volunteers will hike on varied terrain and ride in 4WD vehicles, with potential exposure to poison oak, ticks, heat, and rain. Field days will be primarily during the week, begin at various locations around Mt. Tam, and will require an early start!  Registration required.
