Raptor Observatory and Golden Gate Maintenance: Clean Up Hawk Hill!
|
Each fall, thousands of birds of prey migrate through the Marin Headlands - and Hawk Hill is the best vantage point to observe and count them! For over thirty years, the Golden Gate Raptor Observatory's 300+ team of volunteer scientists have counted and banded raptors on fall migration. Year round, Hawk Hill attracts visitors by the thousands as well, looking for epic views of the California coastline, San Francisco, and the Golden Gate Bridge; or just to find a peaceful place to have a picnic. Many hands are needed to keep Hawk Hill a safe and beautiful place for all who visit! Hawk Hill is a popular visitor destination well known for its beautiful vistas and as a place to observe migrating raptors. Join in to help clean-up trash that threatens the health and safety of our wildlife; and paint over unsightly graffiti on military Battery Construction 129 (a.k.a Hawk Hill). Weather permitting, interested volunteers can stay afterwards for a short (half hour) crash-course on raptor identification with GGRO's Operations Manager, Laura Young.
