October 2017 Pumpkin Spice, Everything Nice!
|
|
Dear ,
We welcome
October with sunshine-filled days and crisper evenings. At Park Stewardship
this also marks the beginning of our new intern cohort, in which we dive into
many trainings and bring new energy into the San Mateo Team. Why not spend a
gorgeous Saturday coming out and introducing yourself to some new friendly
faces at one of our upcoming programs. We hope to see you there!

Welcome San Mateo Team
By Rosie and Camila
Hi all, my
name is Rosie Frederick and I’m joining the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy team
from Gainesville, Florida. I am a recent graduate of Whitman College in Walla
Walla, Washington where I completed my degree in Environmental Studies. With
previous field experience from Yosemite National Park, Nevada, Madagascar and
St. Croix, I am excited to continue my exploration of ecology and restoration
in San Francisco during the upcoming year. I am an avid rock climber and
backpacker, and love to spend my free time outdoors. Fun fact, I am a twin!

Hi! My name is Camila Fishtahler, I was born and raised
in Arlington, Virginia and then attended the College of William and Mary
earning a B.S. in Ecology. My love for the outdoors started the first time
my dad took me on my first six-day camping/canoeing trip when I was five. The
last six months I've been working as a land health technician in Elko, Nevada,
which if you get the chance is worth taking a day and exploring the Ruby
Mountains. On days off, you'll find me camping, hiking, drawing, or attempting
to rock climb (newbie at this sport). My ideal world would be surrounded by
pristine nature, books that also come with extra dark chocolates, and dogs
within reach for petting at all times.
I cannot wait to learn about the Park, community outreach, and restoration efforts. I have only been in San Francisco once before, and I am looking forward to exploring the city and meeting new people. I have a lot to learn from staff, fellow interns, and volunteers.
