Hello!

It’s a beautiful time of year on and around Mt. Tam. The streams are flowing. The hills are green. And the natural world is alive, growing, and nourished by the rains.

Despite being so awe-inspiring, Mt. Tam is not in peak health. We need to do more to take care of this place we call home and this mountain we explore with friends and family.

Keep reading to learn about ways you can get involved. Thank you for being a part of the large and growing community of people taking care of Mt. Tam.

NEW! From Base to Peak: Studio Exhibition and Lecture Series

“From Base to Peak” captures the compelling history and ecological value of Mt. Tam’s West Peak, details the plan to enhance unique plant communities, and allows visitors to take in the breathtaking views and learn more about the ecology and history of the mountain. The Exhibition closes March 9. You can experience it in The Studio at the Marin Art & Garden Center. Catch the exhibit before it closes March 9!

Learn more here..

You won’t want to miss the two upcoming fascinating lectures from Marin Art & Garden Center’s Conservation Series this season, stemming from the exhibition:

Thursday, February 21, 6-8 pm:

Join us for a conversation with members of Marin’s Native American community about the history and significance of Mt. Tam. We’ll also hear about a restoration project at Mt. Umunhum with many parallels to West Peak project, and learn how it weaves together culture and history of the region with restoration and design.

Thursday, March 14, 6-8 pm:

Hear what we’ve learned from a new inventory of Mt. Tam’s seeps and springs, part of an ongoing effort to understand the health of the mountain, plus how its hydrology plays a crucial role in the mountain’s ecosystems and Marin’s water supply. We’ll then tie these local findings to broader conditions, and get the latest consensus on climate change and what needs to be done.

In partnership with the Marin Art & Garden Center.
