WELCOME 2018 LINC ON TAM!
From pine forests to
coastal scrub, the beautiful scenery of Point Reyes set the stage for the
beginning of a journey for 20 high school students. Relying on teamwork,
cooperation, and persistence, LINC (Linking Individuals to their Natural Community) on Tam students trekked through wilderness for 4
days. Highs and lows were common, not just in elevation, but as this group
learned to work together, trust each other, and test their endurance.
S’mores were made,
stories were told, bonds were created, and the foundation for teamwork and
growth was established. If this trip was any indication of the weeks of service to
come, this cohort is off to a wonderful start!

Into the Woods: Mt. Tam's Forests in a Changing Environment
Come Into the Woods with us to explore Mt. Tam's forest systems and how they are changing. We'll look at how the mountain's forests are doing through multiple angles, and how they are affected by broader environmental changes happening in our region. We'll also take a close look at the tanoak - a common element of our region's landscapes, but very rich in natural and cultural history. Tickets will go on sale in August at onetam.org.

MORE JULY HIGHLIGHTS
An Unusual Visitor
What’s black, white,
round, and not a soccer ball?
Here's a clue...
A badger of course!
Captured by the
Marin Wildlife Picture Index Project, these photos are research gold!
Badgers are
typically nocturnal and live in grasslands, so discovering these rare
beauties during the day and in woody areas is providing researchers with
surprising information about their habits and habitat.
Search for your
animal gold at our next Wildlife Picture Index Workshop July 12th!

West Peak Restoration Update
After
more than 18 months of community engagement and technical studies, the Marin
Municipal Watershed District, in partnership with One Tam, is excited to share
the preferred concept for the restoration of West Peak!
This concept includes removing and reducing manmade structures
and materials, reconstructing some of the topography, restoring the
serpentine dominated landscape, and increasing trail access for visitors.
